Horizons for people with Down's Syndrome keep on broadening. POSEIDON, a European research project funded by the EU, is developing apps to help people with Down's Syndrome lead more independent lives. Currently in its second year, this project involves Middlesex University and other European partners.
So far several apps have been trialled by families in the UK, Germany and Norway: a calendar app, a navigation app and a money-handling table. The plan is to develop the apps so they can be personalised more to suit the individual.
POSEIDON stands for PersOnalised Smart Environments to increase Inclusion of people with Down's syNdrome.
